More Money or More Team Building?

A recent poll conducted by Metro newspaper revealed an interesting result. The survey suggests that employees today have started giving quite a lot of weight to factors other than salary. These include prospects like career development, sales
incentive programs and
team building day.
It has long since been suggested in organizational behaviour and development theories that salary increases have a ceiling limit when it comes to increasing employee motivation. After a certain level, pay increases stop being the only powerful incentive factor (hard to believe right? But money really isn’t everything it seems!).
To encourage employee motivation and retention in the current corporate scenario, companies should invest in a team building day or two at least every year.
